Whenever Sufism and its profound spiritual experiences, which aim to purify and elevate souls, are mentioned, Muhyiddin Ibn Arabi is mentioned; the greatest sheikh of Sufis since the seventh century AH, the man of secrets, the possessor of stations, miracles and divine powers, and the author of the famous “Al-Futuhat Al-Makkiyya”. As much as Ibn Arabi attained a high status in the kingdom of Sufism, and as much as he acquired religious sciences and divine gifts, there was controversy about him “as a person and a method”. He had many supporters and disciples, and many who belittled and detracted him, but no one disagrees about the abundance of his production, the greatness of his works, and the uniqueness of his thought and style. Taha Abdel-Baqi Surur informs us about all this and other aspects of this Sufi figure in his book, which we have in our hands, giving his reader a unique view of an impressive scene.
