The novel "Al-Hajjaj bin Yusuf" is part of the series of novels about the history of Islam. The novel deals with one of the most controversial figures in Islamic history, namely Al-Hajjaj bin Yusuf Al-Thaqafi, the Umayyad politician and military commander who spared no effort in establishing the pillars of the Umayyad state. Al-Hajjaj was known for being extremely brutal towards his opponents, unjust and tyrannical, to the point that in his war with Abdullah bin Al-Zubayr, he did not hesitate to besiege Mecca and attack it with catapults, which led to the destruction of the Kaaba. Other great deeds are attributed to Al-Hajjaj related to the Islamic conquests, city planning, and the dotting of the Holy Qur’an.
