The “saneh” is what comes to you from your right, and is usually associated with some people with a feeling of blessing and optimism, unlike the “barah” which comes to you from your left and is associated with a feeling of pessimism. The “saneh” is also associated with making room and offering, so it is said “the opinion came to me” or “the opportunity came to me.” May Ziadeh, a pioneer of feminist literature in the first half of the twentieth century, and one of the pillars of the literary renaissance in our Arab world, wanted the title of this book to be “Sawaneh Fatah” in order to clothe her (feminist) opinion with the ornaments of beauty and blessing and to demonstrate the adequacy of its presentation. May was able to present in this book her opinions and thoughts about the human soul and life, so her text came out as an enjoyable text, indicating her grip on the reins of the language, her ability to express herself with eloquence and grace, and her ability to develop and renew with sobriety and creativity.
